Started as ilajul Ain in January 1979 by Dr. Shaik Hameed with the blessings of Haji Chank Abdul Kader, we grew from a single room clinic (Ilajul Ain) in triplicane to a fully equipped super speciality centre-Fathimah Eye Clinic at Santhome, through sheer dedication and uncompromised quality customer care.
We house the latest equipments for diagnosing and treating eye disorders. With updated services, professional expertise and state-of-the-artfacilities we are poised to further our capabilities in the delivery of cost effective personalized eye care.
HOSPITAL INFRA STRUCTURE
Out Patient Department
The out patient department houses 3 spacious consultation rooms and a state of the art LASER room. A large waiting area in the entrance lobby offers comfortable seating for patients.
ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS
Medical records of all patients are maintained digitally in addition to physical records for the convenience of our patients
Opticals
Aesthetic, pleasing frames and lenses both Indian and imported for all ages at affordable cost are made available at our optical section. Computerized fitting is done to ensure quality. We are authorised dealers for Carl Zeiss, Hoya , Vision Rx and essilor lenses
Operating Theatre
We have state of the art Operating microscopes, phaco machine, and equipments for all ocular surgeries. we have flash autoclave, to autoclave the instruments and the tubings in a very short time,this machine can autoclave even the inside of the tubings used in eye surgery.
IN Patient facility
With a total of 6 individual rooms, ethical nursing care, uninterrupted power and water supply, We ensure utmost patient comfort and care.
CATARACT SURGERY
We offers the latest Phaco Surgery where incision is reduced to a meagre 2.2mm, coupled with the Cold Phaco technique reducing the time taken for the surgery and also reducing the post operative recovery time and ensuring safety. State of the art intraocular lenses including Multifocal intraocular lenses, Toric, Aberration free, aspheric, aspheric with blue light filtering intraocular lenses are implanted. Additionally the lens exchange procedure which cuts out the dependency of glasses is also carried out.
GLAUCOMA
Glaucoma is a potential sight threatening disorder, which if untreated can lead to blindness.
OCTOPUS perimeter helps evaluate the visual filed manage glaucoma effectively.
Fundus Photography helps in assessing progression.
OCT-optical coherence tomography to get in depth analysis of glaucoma and assess progression
Laser and Surgical management of glaucoma is also available.
Ocular Trauma
Surgery can now effectively prevent loss of vision in many patients with severe eye trauma caused by blunt or penetrating injuries
CONTANCT LENS
Contact lenses from all brands at reasonably good price are fitted in our clinic at a very reasonable price we also provide cosmetic contact lenses for trial and fit.
REFRACTIVE SURGERY
Blade free customized Laser procedure – Intralse assisted Zyoptix, for correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Patients undergoing Zyoptix have better quality of night vision than those treated with standard LASIK.

Botox and fillers for management of wrinkles and dark circles around the eyes

The lenses are customized according to our patients lifestyle and activities. We deal with all types of contact lenses and dispence according to the need of our patients.
Medical retina clinic – With the help of our optical coherence tomography, fundus camera and green laser unit, we provide laser based intervention for patients with diabetic eye disease and retinal ailments.
Botox/aesthetic eye clinic – We help in providing aesthetic solutions for people with eyelid twitching, uncontrolled blinking and wrinkling around the eyes and to improve facial aesthetics.
Low vision clinic – Our team of optometrists are equipped and trained in low vision aid assessment and have helped many children with non ambulatory vision to become ambulatory and independent.

"Born in the year 1952 in a business family manufacturing chank brand lungies, son of the famous Mr chank syed Abdul khader. "
Graduated from kasthurba medical college, Manipal
Post graduation DO&MS from Madras medical college, Egmore. After completing MS in1980 started practicing in Icehouse,Vasudevapuram with a bare minimum basic setup of Indian equipment from Delhi and doing manual refraction with retinoscopy for all patients. Later in 1981 installed the first Automated Refractometer in Chennai imported from Japan Started surgical carrier with manual cataract extraction using cryo extraction by freezing the lens. Later started using Irrigation Aspiration system, that was also first time in Chennai from a unit imported from Japan. Gradually practise grew from a single room set up to a full fledged super speciality Fatimah eye clinic at santhome in 1995. Shifted to phacoemulsification ( no stitch cataract surgery in 2000)and then to micro incision cataract surgery (MICS) .
Pioneer in Laser refractive surgery, been doing LASIK laser for spectacle independence for more than 2 decades.
With the intent of giving back to society which made him what he is now, Fatimah eye clinic has been conducting various vision screening programmes and camps trying our best in eliminating preventable blindness in children and avoidable blindness in the society.
His son Dr Atheek joined practice in the year 2010, which added further improvement in recent advances and refinement in his practice.
